This Week's Updates & Assignments

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
The children are in work mode and they are working so well independently and with others during the work cycle. I love to watch and observe them working. Observing them actively "thinking" and internalizing what they are learning is amazing. If you can spare 30 or 40 minutes, please come and watch your child work in the environment. It is a great experience to see how the children go through their day.
This month theme is "Christmas Around the WORLD".  The children will be learning about Christmas in SWEDEN. The children will be learning about the foods they eat, clothes, traditions and language. The whole primary team has devised a big celebration during the last week of school to come together with each class and share what we know about our country. The other classes will have picked a country as well. During this time we will being doing many cultural  activities such as  crafts such as ornament making, flag making, cooking, singing and dancing. It surely will be a fun learning time.

We will also be discussing sequence of events in stories. Our main book we will be focusing on will be The Gingerbread Boy.
Gingerbread is one of the main desserts served during Christmas time in Sweden. I thought this would be a good book to focus on. We will also be acting the book out after we have read it a few times. The children love to act!

Don't forget that we have the Book Fair going in the library. It is a wonderful way to build a book collection at home. I sent the order form home.

PTA will have a Holiday Show on Dec. 17. at 6 P.M. hope you can come!
