Mrs. Debbie Foshee

Welcome to the Speech Room!!

This is my 5th year at Hursey Elementary/Middle School and 29th year as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I love working at Hursey and helping my students become better communicators.
I am currently working with 45 students at Hursey. I work with students who have speech sounds in error, receptive and expressive language difficulties and fluency/stuttering issues. I have several students who are non-verbal and are learning to communicate using a communication system.
My students this year range in age from 3 years to 7th grade.

While in speech/language therapy we work on correctly producing speech sounds, learning new vocabulary, comprehension of what they read or what is read to them, following multi-step directions, categorization, sequencing skills, and many more areas.

I like to use a variety of books as well as the smartboard during therapy. We have a great time in speech class. The students are learning a lot and making tons of progress!

This is a fun story to read.  the students enjoy the vocabulary and the funny sounds the articles of clothing make.
Some of the vocabulary they have learned:
pants, shirt, gloves, hat, shoes

The students have made cute scarecrows to hang on our door. Be sure to ask your child about the book.
